Good
Friday Celebration Prayer and Praise walk up Pen-y-Fan.
Pen-y-Fan is the highest peak in South Wales at 2907ft above
sea level.
Isaiah 41: 17, 18 says
"The poor and needy search for water but there is none.
Their tongues are parched with thirst. But I the Lord will
answer them; I the Lord will not forsake them.
I will make rivers flow on the barren heights, and springs
within the valleys. I will turn the desert into pools of
water, and the parched ground into springs."
On a prayer walk up Pen-y-Fan last year, the Lord gave me a
vision of His Living water flowing from the heights of the
land to the people in the valleys. As I walked up the
mountain I saw that the springs start very high up the
mountain, and one starts about 50ft from the top.
In the summer in Llanelli we 'Sang to the Wells' for a break
out of His living water (www.celebrationforthenations.org),
and have continued to celebrate and Sing to the Wells in the
town centre in Llanelli every Saturday. This mountain
celebration will be a continuation of the Singing and
Celebration of the grace of our Lord Jesus at the cross on
Good Friday.
Numbers 21:16-17.
'Gather the people together and I will give them water'.
Then Israel sang this song: 'Spring up, O well! All of you
sing to it'
If you are interested in participating in the celebration
walk, we are meeting around midday for 12:30pm on the car
park on the A470. (This is the main trunk road between
Merthyr Tydfil and Brecon). This car park is located at the
highest point on this road, and is the first one that you
arrive at on the right hand side when you are travelling
from Merthyr to Brecon. The second car park is across from
the Storey Arms on the left hand side. We will be meeting at
the first one but if it is full you can park on the second
one and walk down to it.
We aim to praise/worship (with guitars) for 20 minutes at
the bottom of the mountain then gently amble up to the top
ridge for the main celebration starting about 2:45pm for
3:00pm for approximately 45mins.
After this some of us will go on the final ascent (taking
around 45mins) to pray/prophesy over the sources of springs
and over the land from the top.
Safety notes. The weather can be quiet hostile at times and
suitable footwear and clothing will be needed. There will be
about two to two and a half hours for the walk from the
bottom to the top ridge. This will be suitable for families.
Above this top ridge, on the highest peaks there are some
very dangerous steep drops, which are a hazard to young
children or anyone not aware of them. You are responsible
for your own safety and your family's safety.
The day will be a great opportunity for all the family to
pray for Wales, to prophesy over the land, to witness to
walkers and to enjoy fellowship with each other and with
different nationalities as we walk together and share the
graces of our saviour.
(If the weather is quite bad we will celebrate at the bottom
for an hour or so, but please pray for good weather on the
day).
